Bluegrass is a spin-off of country music. Having its roots in EnglIsh, Irish, Scottish and Welsh traditional music, it was later influenced by African American traditional music with the introduction of jazz instruments, at the same time retaining a strong folk sound, often with the use of a fiddler. In Bluegrass, as with jazz, there is a strong element of improvisation with simple chord changes.
